Diwali 2020: Janhvi Kapoor Remembers Mom Sridevi's Advice For Festive Season; 'Mom Always Said We Should Wear Something New And Bright'

Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl actress Janhvi Kapoor is spending lots of quality time with her family at home, since the past few months. The young actress recently got back home, to Mumbai, for Diwali. She was at her mom Sridevi’s ancestral home in Chennai. Janhvi spend time with Sridevi’s family in Chennai for one week. Now, on Diwali 2020, Janhvi Kapoor remembered mom Sridevi and her advice during the festive season. She shared how her mom always said that one must wear something new and bright during the festival.
Speaking with E Times, talking about Diwali preparations in Mumbai, Janhvi said, “My mom would always say that on the day of Diwali, on New Year and our birthdays, we should wear something new and bright. I will definitely wear something new, and I will be dressing up after a really long time, so I am excited about it. We will do a small puja at home like we always do, and that will be our celebration.” Sharing some details about prepping the house for Diwali, the actress revealed that her mom Sridevi had a well-oiled system for what had to be done. Kapoor mentioned that the main house staff sets up the house and decks it up with lights, flowers and diyas.
The Dhadak actress also opened up about the memorable time she spent at her mom’s maternal, ancestral home in Chennai. She recalled her pre-Diwali period in Chennai and mentioned how it was a long time since her family couldn’t stay there because it needed some renovations. The actress revealed that her father Boney Kapoor finally managed to get the renovations done. Talking about the home, she shared that Sridevi’s ancestral home is a beach house, and it was her mom’s dream. The actress also revealed what her dad told her sister Khushi and her. She said, “He told Khushi and me, ‘It was your mom’s dream, and she always wanted both of you to spend time in this house’. So, this was a very special trip for all of us, and to meet her side of the family after so long was great.”
Meanwhile, apart from this, Jahnvi Kapoor also recalled the time when she used to visit her mom’s Chennai house during her childhood. She mentioned that she went on the streets with her mom to see the lights, and then get together and have delicious South Indian delicacies and mango juice. She revealed she was always obsessed with mango juice and shared that she associates the drink with Diwali.
